STEAM week 2018
As part of Stroud’s inspiring curriculum, it is ran a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) week in March 2018, with a focus on ‘Motion’. As part of this, Stroud welcomed the Education Department from Bloodhound SSC; the car attempting to travel in excess of 1000mph, to secure a new land speed record.
To help launch the week and fuel the children’s imaginations, parents with any interesting vehicles were invited to bring them into the school. The response was staggering. Stroud has a family ethos and as always the parents pulled out all the stops to get involved, support the school community and make it a special day for pupils. What started as a small event quickly grew into a full car rally as owners gathered with an incredibly exciting range of cars, including a Sinclair C5, Jaguar xk120 1952, BMW i3 (electric), Tesla Model X, McLaren 570 Spider, 1937 Jaguar SS100 and a Morgan Plus 4.
Teachers took their lessons outside, getting pupils to think about everything from aerodynamics to aesthetics.
