Discovering the Rain Forest at Kew Gardens
Whilst on their trip to the Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew, our Year 6 pupils attended a workshop on Rain forests, People and Plants and were given an introduction into some of the conflicting interests that are threatening these spectacular habitats.
After learning a little about biodiversity, the effects of plantations and logging, sustainability and how human actions affect both the indigenous people and the rain forest, pupils were able to explore and discover more about different biomes and the plants that occupy them.
The children even had time out to practise some mindfulness and contemplate what they had read and seen underneath the beehive sculpture. A fantastic day out!
