Stroud @ Home Returns!

Following the news that schools are to close until mid-February, Stroud is currently offering in-school provision for critical worker and vulnerable children. All other pupils are receiving online home schooling via remote learning.

The Government’s decision to close all schools will have undoubtedly caused stress and anxiety to all our pupils, parents and community. This isn’t how we wanted to start 2021. Similar to the spring lockdown, all pupils will be provided with a full remote teaching timetable.

Like all schools, Stroud was put in the difficult position by the lateness of the Government’s announcement and the immediacy of the school closures and Heads of Department will constantly be in touch with parents to explain the remote learning provision that has been put in place as well as keeping them informed of any changes throughout the school day. The lines of communication between the school and the parents will remain open, even if the school is physically closed.

At Stroud we were very early adopters of a full remote curriculum for our pupils. As well as providing key worker in-school provision, we launched a highly successful Stroud@Home programme blending Google Classroom with Zoom to effectively continue the curriculum, deliver online face-to-face lessons and provide the critically important social interaction that our children need. We are lucky to have a huge IT infrastructure across Stroud and our senior school, King Edward VI School, Southampton, so we can quickly adapt and upskill our pupils, parents and staff with the IT skills needed.

We are deeply disappointed to be closing the school again and look forward to the doors opening once again ,hopefully, after February half term. In the meantime, we will be striving to make this experience a positive one for our children: one that maintains as much academic rigour as possible whilst ensuring each child’s wellbeing remains at the forefront of our minds.

We are still taking new applications and welcome any questions – please call Stroud School on 01794 513231.
