The aims of the School revolve around the outcome for an individual child. We aim for our pupils to leave Stroud with:
- a strong sense of the Stroud core values: honesty, respect, and happiness.
- a love of learning and high levels of intrinsic motivation.
- confidence and self-assurance with a strong sense of social responsibility .
- the desire to strive for success in all areas of the curriculum.
- a keen sense of individuality.
- the feeling that they are fully prepared for their next steps.
We also foster the key ‘Stroud Spirit’ skills within our pupils. These are key for ensuring our pupils leave with the tools for success. You can read more about these skills in our Headmistress Welcome.
ISI Inspection Report
In December 2019, Stroud achieved ‘Excellent’ – the highest possible grading – in its latest Focused Compliance and Educational Quality Inspection report from the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI).
The top grading was achieved in both academic achievement and personal development, and was recognised as such from Nursery to Year 8. The ISI is the Ofsted equivalent for independent schools, approved by the Department for Education. This was the first inspection of this type that the school has had since 2011 and follows a Regulated Compliance Inspection in 2017 which the school passed with no recommendations.
Among the key findings for pupils’ academic achievements, the inspection team identified that “pupils’ knowledge, skills and understanding are strong across all areas of the curriculum. Their linguistic and mathematical skills are outstanding…” The report also stated that Stroud pupils are “outstanding, articulate communicators and confidently express their opinions and ideas to each other and their teachers because teaching allows them to question and explore in an atmosphere of mutual trust.” You can read the report here.
Additionally, in February 2017, Stroud underwent a compliance inspection and met all of the standards which are required by the Independent Schools Inspectorate. Whilst this inspection focused on compliance, its main findings were that the quality of teaching allowed for pupils to make good progress in line with a suitable teaching framework. Pupils’ principles and values are actively promoted and pupils’ welfare is considered at all times. Please click here to download a full copy of the compliance report.
All school policies are available to parents; hard copies are available upon request from the School Office. If a document you are looking for is not available to download from a link below, please contact the School Office in the first instance.
