Stroud Bags Help Save Fossil Fuels!

The Eco Team helped organise a stall at the Christmas Fayre to sell some new, recycled, biodegradable shopping bags made from a natural material called jute. Jute is a plant that looks similar to bamboo or corn! We managed to sell 66 bags and have another 198 left to be sold.

We thought this was a great idea as shops are now charging five pence per carrier bag that you use, so we all need to reduce the amount of rubbish that we make and reuse bags. It is important to stop using plastic bags because they are made from oil, which is running out.

In addition, we gave every family a free bag to avoid buying plastic bags in the shops. If you would like to purchase further bags, please see your class Eco Team representative.

Happy shopping!
